Advanced options — rates & efficiency
Use the same rating basis for both AC systems (SEER or SEER2). Heat pump COP must represent seasonal performance including defrost. These are illustrative system options, not verified ratings for a particular Carrier, Lennox, York or Amana model.
Energy rates
Rates shown are editable examples, not current utility quotes. Use variable supply and delivery charges from your bill, consistently excluding tax. Fuel-energy conversions are approximate: natural gas 10.55 kWh/m³, propane 7.03 kWh/L, oil 10.7 kWh/L. Backup heat keeps your existing efficiency and rate. No fixed connection-fee savings are assumed.

Same heating and cooling demand before and after. Weather, sizing, duct losses, thermostat settings and actual equipment performance affect results. Installation, financing, maintenance, rebates, fixed fees and taxes are excluded.
A heat pump can add cooling where there was none; that additional use is not estimated when your current AC cost is zero.
